My name is…
First things first...my name is Emily Borja.
I am a San Francisco Bay Area native. I talk a big game about moving out of state someday but anyone who knows me knows I will stay Cali Golden until my last breath. Also I’m a big huge baby and would never move away from my family and friends...or my favorite ROSS store.
So what is About Face? Who am I to have a website or a blog? OMG both those questions terrify me but let me attempt to explain.
ABOUT FACE has come to mean so many things over my forty five years of life. Plain and simple “ABOUT FACE” Is the title of my first (and only) E-book. In 2012 my family experienced a medical crisis and our lives completely imploded. Broke, terrified and emotionally exhausted I answered a phone call that changed my life. Shocking because I almost NEVER answer the phone and I like to keep my voicemail FULL. Within days of answering that call I became a small business owner. Fast forward eight years later and I can say it is one of the best decisions I have ever made! Writing a book was a HUGE bucket list line item. CHECK!
The past decade has included marriage, children, divorce, co-parenting, career changes, loss of a parent, Cancer, endless struggles with weight, coming out or rather letting others in, failure, fear and chaos. Those same ten years have been beautiful, successful, triumphant, empowering, humbling and full of love.
ABOUT FACE is a call to action. Think of it as my personal STOP! DROP! And ROLL!. It’s my response to the inner voice that forces me to turn around and do a military style ABOUT FACE so I can plant my feet firmly into the ground ready to confront whatever I have been running from. Side note, I’m a fourteen minute mile so I do more of a “stylish trot” but you get the picture!
Lastly, “AF” always stands for ABOUT FAMILY because my family is my reason...for everything. Those who know will say “AF” means exactly what you think it means because well..I swear…ALOT.
I want to thank you for stopping by. I am humbled to share my thoughts and stories with you. No filters…unless the bags under my eyes are so big that it would hurt both of our feelings:) P.S. I have a cream for that:)
